The Message of the Day is the two-line server description displayed on the multiplayer list, configured via the motd setting in server.properties. Vanilla servers render colors using 16 legacy codes prefixed by escape sequences such as \u00A76 for gold.
Centering requires adding blank spaces before your text because the server list lacks an alignment tag. The multiplayer window allocates roughly 260 pixels per line, where standard space characters measure 4 pixels wide in the default font.
You can change MOTD colors in server.properties by prepending text with unicode codes like \u00A7a for green. For RGB gradients in Paper servers, plugins parse #RRGGBB hex values using the §x§r§r§g§g§b§b format.
The multiplayer server list displays up to 2 lines of text, with roughly 45 to 55 characters fitting per line. You can force a second line by inserting the \n newline escape sequence inside server.properties.
Modern Paper and Velocity plugins use Adventure MiniMessage tags like or instead of legacy section signs. Server Text Studio automatically converts styled text into MiniMessage, BungeeCord hex, and raw JSON components.
