How to use this tool, and the questions players ask most.

Why are crafting recipes not showing in my recipe book?

Recipes remain hidden until unlocked by picking up ingredient items or changing game rules. Running /gamerule doLimitedCrafting false disables restricted recipe mode, or players can unlock every recipe instantly with /recipe give @s *.

How do you see all crafting recipes in Minecraft?

You can inspect every recipe file inside the game JAR under data/minecraft/recipe/ or use the Recipe & Tag Browser to filter them. In game, grant all recipes to a player using the /recipe give @p * command.

What crafting recipes require a 3x3 crafting table?

Any recipe exceeding a 2x2 grid requires a crafting table, such as crafting an iron chestplate with 8 iron ingots. In contrast, player inventory crafting only supports 2x2 recipes like torches or wooden buttons.

How do item tags work in Minecraft crafting recipes?

Recipe JSON files use tag keys formatted like #minecraft:planks instead of single item IDs. This allows any of the 11 vanilla wooden plank types to satisfy a recipe requirement interchangeably in datapacks.

Are crafting recipes different between Minecraft Java and Bedrock?

Most recipes are identical, but Bedrock Edition allows shapeless crafting for items like leads using 4 string and 1 slimeball. Bedrock also permits re-dyeing any colored bed using 1 dye, which Java Edition does not support.
