Coordinate & Stronghold Tools

Convert block coordinates to chunk/region files and triangulate a stronghold from two Eye of Ender throws.

These are pure math conversions — no world file is read; enter your coordinates directly.

Quick guides

How to use this tool, and the questions players ask most.

How do you find a stronghold using commands?

Type the command /locate structure minecraft:stronghold in chat with cheats enabled to view the nearest coordinates. In Java Edition, clicking the coordinates in chat automatically prepares a /tp @s ~ ~ ~ command to teleport straight to that location.

How many strongholds generate in a Minecraft world?

Minecraft Java Edition generates exactly 128 strongholds per world arranged in 8 concentric rings around coordinates 0,0. The first ring contains 3 strongholds located between 1,280 and 2,816 blocks from world spawn.

What Y level do strongholds generate in Minecraft?

Strongholds generate underground between Y=-64 and Y=64, frequently intersecting deepslate layers, caves, and ravines. The portal room contains 12 frame blocks around a 3x3 lava pool and usually generates below Y=0.

Why can't I find the portal room in a stronghold?

World generation occasionally disconnects corridors when a stronghold intersects a mineshaft or ocean monument, walling off rooms behind stone brick. You can locate walled-off portal rooms by digging along chunk borders at intervals of 16 blocks or listening for silverfish sounds.

How do you find a stronghold in Minecraft Bedrock?

Throw an Eye of Ender into the air or look under village meeting points, as Bedrock generation heavily favors placing strongholds under villages. Unlike Java Edition's limit of 128, Bedrock generates an infinite number of strongholds randomly throughout the world.
