How to use this tool, and the questions players ask most.
A beacon reaches downward by a distance equal to its horizontal radius, giving a level 4 beacon a downward range of 50 blocks below the beacon block. Upward range extends indefinitely up to the world height limit of Y=320.
A full 4-tier beacon covers a square radius of 50 blocks in all four horizontal directions, creating a total effect area of 101x101 blocks. Players within this boundary receive status effects renewed every 4 seconds with an 11 to 16 second lingering duration.
You cannot change a beacon block's hardcoded broadcast radius, but you can simulate unlimited range using the command /effect give @p minecraft:haste 99999 1 true. To apply effects to all players in a custom area, combine it with a selector like @a[distance=..150].
You can extend total coverage by building an interconnected multi-beacon base, such as placing 6 beacon blocks on a shared 10x11 block foundation. This widens the outer boundary while requiring only 244 mineral blocks instead of 984 for six separate pyramids.
Vanilla Minecraft has no hitboxes or overlays showing beacon fields, but you can locate the edge by watching your status effect timer. Effects refresh every 4 seconds inside the zone, so walking outside causes the 16-second countdown icon to tick down continuously.
